Making Her Mine

I purchased this dressform from someone on Craigslist about a year ago. I couldn’t believe it was such great price and I was the first person to call. I wanted to give “her” a name, so I picked my great grandmother’s name Bronislawa (aka Bertha.) I think the Polish version sounds much prettier, but the nickname Bertha is easier to say.

Bertha is made of hard foam and she wore a cloth cover and has a nice stand. (Of course I don't have any before pics.) I purchased her to display handmade jewelry at shows.
I was SO excited to get her, but she didn’t have that wow appeal so I went to work making her mine. I used some vintage sewing patterns that I had in my stash, tore them into pieces and mod podged them all over Bertha.
After she was dry, I applied another coat of mod podge, let that dry, and Bertha was ready.
She really loves pearls and wears lots of them and I mean LOTS. I really love the way she looks with all of her pearls.
Do you have a dressform, and what did you do to make it yours?

My First Post

Hello and welcome to my blog.  My name is Lisa and I started to set up a blog about two years ago with all intentions of jumping in to the blogging world…   well that didn’t happen.  So… this is my first official post on my new blog.  Oh well, better late than never.
I really needed something to jumpstart my creative juices so I took an online class, “Building a Creatively Made Business” with Jeanne Oliver.  She is fabulous, and the class was really great.  It gave me the encouragement (kick in the butt) I needed to get things going.  Now that I am taking that first step, my goal is to blog on a regular basis which should be the nudge I need to start working on the many creative projects that are already started, waiting to start, on my list, in my head, etc.  Can you tell I procrastinate?  I am really trying to work on that, really.  I hope to share all of my creative ideas and projects with you.
Back to Jeanne Oliver, she is THE nicest person, very generous with all kinds of information for starting a creative business, a blog, and an online shop. She has them all.  Watching the videos gave me that “I can’t wait to get started” feeling.  So I am jumping in and hopefully things will fall into place as I go along.  Wish me luck!

P.S.  I'll tell you about this beauty next time.
